At Hark, we listen.

Our Approach

Hark (verb): to pay close attention to; listen.

In a time when many providers are slow to listen and quick to medicate, Hark is different.

At Hark Psychiatry, LLC, we understand the importance of being heard. Our practice is dedicated to providing thoughtful, responsible, and compassionate psychiatric care to patients in the Kansas City area.

Meet Ashley

Ashley Bean is a board-certified, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). She founded Hark Psychiatry, LLC, to create a space for patients to receive personalized psychiatric care informed by both her clinical experience and her Christian faith.

Ashley received a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Since finishing graduate school, Ashley has worked in community mental health where she gained experience treating a wide variety of mental illnesses and conditions.

Ashley originally attended the University of Missouri-Kansas City where she received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. After finishing her undergraduate work, she was an ICU nurse for nearly 10 years.

What We Do

At Hark, we believe that effective psychiatric care begins with listening. Our approach is centered around understanding your unique needs, preferences, and goals.

Services Include:

Psychiatric Evaluations | Comprehensive, diagnostic assessment of current mental health conditions, medical history, and medication response.

Medication Management | Evidence-based prescribing and monitoring of psychiatric medications to optimize your mental health outcomes.

Individualized Treatment Plans | Customized treatment plans that may include medication management, therapy referrals, and lifestyle interventions.

Let’s get started.

Learn more.

  • Initial psychiatric evaluations are $200 (1-hour) and follow up appointments are $100 (30-minutes). A treatment plan and appointment frequency recommendation will be provided at your initial evaluation.

  • We do not accept insurance at this time (though medications and lab orders prescribed are typically covered by medical insurance). We can provide you with a superbill that you can submit to your insurance provider for out-of-network reimbursement. In some cases, your insurance plan will reimburse you directly for a portion of your out of pocket fees. To learn more, call the phone number on the back of your insurance card or refer to the Summary of Benefits on your insurance policy.

  • We will design a treatment plan based on your own needs and goals at your initial evaluation. But in general, we will meet for an initial, 60-minute evaluation, and then follow up with 30-minute appointments every 4-8 weeks.

  • If you live in Kansas, yes (but only after your initial evaluation). Patients who live in Missouri will need to meet Ashley in her office in Overland Park, Kansas.

  • No. We currently only treat patients 18 and older.
